So you found an abandoned baby squirrel … Now what?
- Warm up the baby/babies. Baby squirrels loose body heat very quickly when they are not in their nest. A heating pad on low placed under a box lined with cloth is the best way warm up a baby squirrel. Do not place the babies directly on the heating pad.
- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FEED THE BABIES! While it is important to get the baby fed and hydrated, feeding a baby squirrel is tricky business. If you don’t know what you are doing, you could more harm than good. Feeding a dehydrated squirrel can kill them.
- Call Squirrel Angel at 321-747-7733. Squirrel Angel is here to help. If you are in the Central Florida area we will arrange to meet up and take the baby in for rehabilitation. If you are not in the Central Florida area, try to find a squirrel or other wildlife rehab in you area.
